Re: hot standby mysql-server
Thank you,
I do not understand your answer fully, but I will when I have a proxy up and running.
What I have in mind is to extend a DW application with a subset replica in another LAN. After the present server (master) is updated, I stop mysql in the replica server and Rsync update the database and then bring mysql back to live again. During the downtime the proxy will then direct users to original server (over the WAN).
This is a much simpler and more robust way of replicating data than online replication which our application do not need. And at the same time an elegant HA solution.
So it's a little bit more than just fail over, the proxy should bounce between the LAN and WAN servers depending on the status of the LAN server.
If this work out well I sprinkle our WAN with cheap unattended mysql DBMS servers.
Now I only have to figure out why I can not compile the proxy. I get complaint about lua module not found, that will probably be a new request for help.
