MySQL Proxy 0.7.2 Windows Service

I'm trying to run MySQL Proxy 0.7.2 as a service under windows server 2003.
If I run mysql-proxy-svc.exe as the service it starts and runs fine, the problem is I would like to also use the --defaults-file=mysql-proxy.conf option, but when I do so the service starts and stops again immediately.
I've trawled the net and not been able to find the information I need on this, is anyone else out there running a setup like this?
