MySQL proxy won't start properly, doesn't listen on port

I have recently installed MySQL Proxy on my CentOS 5.5 server and I'm not able to get it started properly.
I start it with:
sudo /mysql-proxy/mysql-proxy-0.8.0-linux-rhel5-x86-64bit/bin/mysql-proxy --proxy-backend-addresses=127.0.0.1:3306 --admin-address=:1337
And get:
2010-08-07 06:07:30: (critical) chassis-limits.c:81: could not raise RLIMIT_NOFILE to 8192, Invalid argument (22). Current limit still 1024.
It hangs there and does not show any further messages. Netstat does not show it listening on 4040 or 1337 and I cannot connect to it.
Any help is appreciated!
