connecting MySQL on AWS using ODBC Connector

MySQL server is running on EC2 in AWS. I want to create a ODBC data source using ODBC Database Administrator. I am able to connect it from home. But when i try from office it always fails. I think this is because of the proxy settings inside office.

Can we use mysql-proxy to create ODBC data source from office to MySQL db on AWS ?

Note: I know it is not a secured way to expose 3306 port outside of the public cloud. This is only for experiment.
