Installing MySQL on vmware fusion (mac os) Windows XP

Hi

Im trying to create a replica of my working environment on my virtual XP running on my Mac OS vmWare fusion.
I first tried installing MySQL 5.0 but I got this error:"This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contract your product vendor".
Then I tried installing 5.1, but it fails when it tries to configure the local instance. Looks like the service cannot be created, and even if I try to manually start it up, root password is not accepted.

What am I doing wrong?
Is there a guide to MySQL over vmWare fusion/XP?

Thanks in advance.
Gonso
