This is really aggravating. I contacted PowerBI support, but they were unable to assist me. Points to remember:


Trying to connect to a MySQL database that is encrypted using SSL.

Earlier in the year, this worked.


Something changed (I'm not sure what) and now whenever I try to get in, I receive an authentication issue.


Things I've tried include:

PowerBI reinstallation

MySQL Connector versions 8.0.14,.15, 16,.17, and.18 are installed.

Using a different computer

Adding certificates to the certificate store on the computer (Personal, Truster Root, Third party)

Taking everything apart and beginning over


To verify it's related to the certs, I requested the DB admin to delete them, which allowed me to join using username and password alone right away.
