EER diagram

I just downloaded MySQL Workbench 5.0.14a I was trying to work through the tutorial and at step 2 working with the EER diagram, I can't get the table's too show up in the workspace. I drag the table from the Catalog pane, get the plus sign, release the mouse and then nothings shows up. In the model navigator there is a blue box indicating where the table should be. If I click where the table should be, the properties window shows the attributes of the table, but there is no table visually depicted in the workspace. I am running a 2 month old Toshiba with Vista.
