Text entry: get front and back colors?

Hello,

how do I find out the default front color of a text entry? It's not black, at least it's not reliable to assume that on every platform.

View has set_front_color and set_back_color, but chokes on get_front_color and get_back_color. They obviously aren't implemented.

Bug?

I successfully set "red" and "black" to indicate wrong input, but I'd like a little more functionality here.
