text base scripts in MyWorkbench

I'm very new to SQL and MySQL (three or for days). I've read several books on SQL but just now starting to get hands on.

I just installed the Community edition MySQL 8.0.16 to begin my learning curve. I'm trying to learn the SQL scripting using text (notepadd++). I'm using MyWorkbench to get started but it wants my to use Python scripts. I've looked through the MySQL maual and the online help but can't seem to find anything on the subject. I may not be searching correctly though.

Is there anyway to copy/paste text scripts from a text editor and run them? Any help would be appreciated.
