Tooltips are empty

Running v8 on macOS Mojave.

I am designing just EER diagrams for someone else - not a live SQL database connection.

When I hover over a table or connection the tooltip is empty. I get the usual delay and a small grey popup arrow, but no yellow popup will details.

Help appreciated. It's driving me bonkers.
