mysql workbench complains about items "not found in keychain" when logging in

Workbench 8.0.21. Running latest Mac OS Catalina. Just upgraded from prior version where this was not an issue.

If you create any connection, but don't set the password, your get a popup three times complaining about

"The specified item could not be found in the keychain. (-25300)"

If you save it to keychain, you get logged in without popup, and without entering password.

If you remove the password from keychain, the popup appears again...

Is there a way to fix this?? It's super annoying.
