MySQL workbench installation

Hi, I started learning SQL and have installed MySQL workbench on my computer. But I cannot open it. When I tried to open, a sentence come up: "You can't open the MySQL preferences page on this computer. Contact the developer of this software for a newer version".
Please help to advice what I need to do in order to be able to open the program.
