Connecting to a database file

I have a Home Assistant system running in my house on a Raspberry Pi computer. I believe that the database application that was installed (was done as part of the HA installation) is MariaDB. The data is stored in a file whose extension is .db.

I copied this file to my Windows machine and tried to access it via MySQL Workbench. This didn't work because the encoding is other that UTF-8 (and I am not sure that I connected to it properly). However, I installed DB Browser for SQLite and this application was able to open and see the file's data.

My question is this: Can you please provide me with, or point me to, instructions that will show me how I can access the file with MySQL Workbench?

Thank you.
