To enable the relationship labels please go to Tools -> Options ... -> Diagram and un-check [X] Hide Connection Captions.

It would be interesting to see a diff of the SQL Export of phpmyadmin vs. our tools, because either they are missing something or we do not support some of their syntax (which would be strange since we use the same grammar as the MySQL Server).
