That's a good question. I think the only way is to actually share the .mwb file and coordinate the worktime so everybody gets the .mwb file exclusively for a period of time.
From the top of my head I can only think of a workflow using SE and synchronizing the model with the live database of the other party and applying the changes in the direction to the model, so it gets updated.
But even that is not a good solution. We are planning a "Team Edition" of MySQL Workbench that will have excellent solutions exactly for your case of several people working together on a single project. But that is not available yet and it will be paid only as well, as these are clearly pro-features.
