Re: Does MySQL Workbench EER diagramming support IS-A relationships?

Hey M A,

that opens the question what would the is-a modelling be useful for, given the context of database design using WB? There is, not even remotely, a physical concept in MySQL which could be addressed by the implementation of the is-a specialization.

The is-a/can-be relationship could perhaps be useful from a logical point of view, but the question remains how to map this to a "physical", real world scenario. Just having this semantic in the model is not helping the actual task of the designer, to create database structures. We'd be eager to learn what advantage is-a/can-be relationships could bring.
