Yes, there was a problem with SSH tunnels and slow handling in Workbench, but that has been resolved already (not related to OSX only, see the release notes of 6.3.5:
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/workbench/en/wb-news-6-3-5.html). We are constantly fixing bugs and soon there will be another release with a big number of bugs fixed. And I think the fact that there is not much discussion about Workbench's OSX version indicates how matured the application is. But that doesn't mean it couldn't be improved further, of course.
Anyway, please keep filing bug reports, even if it looks as if it takes ages to fix. We schedule by priority (e.g. how many users are affected by a specific problem), so if you detect something really serious it will be handled in a much shorter period of time.
