It's been a while already since this was asked, but let me still give you an answer in case others try to find more info.

That dialog.dll is a feature of the MariaDB server (or rather the client) and not used nor needed nor supported by MySQL. MySQL Workbench is a product for MySQL and will hence only (fully) work for MySQL.
