The file type "mwb.bak" is usually a backup of a model file (.mwb), which is created automatically by MySQL Workbench when some error correction or model upgrade is performed.

You can easily check this by renaming that file to .mwb and try to open it with MySQL Workbench.

Note: since this is a model file, no dump, it will not contain data from a server.
