The same behavior here.
I can't type quotes in Visual SQL Editor after upgrade to MySQL Workbench 6.3.9 GA.
Keyboard is ok, because I'm able to type quotes in the search window, for instance. But in query editor nothing happens after typing.
It isn't good idea downgrade because the previous versions are freezing in MacOS Sierra.
Using macOS Sierra 10.12.3 and MySQL Workbench 6.3.9 10690321 CE 64 bits.
