I also seem to get this messages a well
Connection Warning
incompatible/nonstandard server version or connection protocol detected (10.1.21)
a connection to this database can be estabblished but some mysql workbench features may not woek properly since the database is not fully compatible with the support versions of mysql
mysql workbench is developed and tested for mysql server versions
5.1, 5.5 5.6 and 5.7
there are two buttions that say
continue anyway or cancel
If you hit continue you get into the connections screen which a message say at the top of the screen "warning not supported"
I downloaded MySQL Workbench 6.0.9
Windows (x86, 32-bit), MSI Installer
