The MySQL server is now installed with a root user with a random initial password. You should have got a message what the password is on installation. On macOS, I believe, the password is also stored in a file in your home folder (not 100% sure though). If all fails and you cannot find the password you can go through the procedure of resetting the root password in MySQL (do an online search for that).
