Re: Accessing remote data

Ok let me ask a different question because this does not exactly answer my initial question. I want to retrieve the data from a table on server1 by using a select statement on server2.

Now i have been able to mostly get the function FEDERATED to work.

Where i am having problems at is the host name. Here is my connect string, instead of using the IP address i want to be able to use the computer name but it does not seem to want to resolve the computer name.

ENGINE=FEDERATED CONNECTION = 'mysql://root:visons@192.168.0.171:3306/ezmysqltest/csm2'
DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8;

I want to use the computer name instead of the IP so can i do so and if so how?
