Hey Peter - per the link to the StackExchange post (one message above), yes - it works fine if entered into the Query window - however every attempt to use any form of GET DIAGNOSTICS fails in the actual routine editor window of Workbench. Even cutting and pasting code directly from the documentation for get-diagnostics or just inserting the single line within a double-clicked "Add Routine". Every single attempt fails on the GET. You can try this yourself; look at the get-diagnostics MySQL documentation and try copying the routine code exactly into the MySQL Workbench New Routine section - you SHOULD get the same error. Let me know what you encounter.
