Personal rant - This is bullshit, I have found allot of stupid restrictions/problems when working with mysql, I have no trouble with Microsoft sql server.

Not bullshit at all, the manual pages for creating stored routines document it clearly ... it's just MySQL's method of parsing and bundling groups of commands whilst saving stored routines. If you have a better idea for how to do, please do feel free to suggest it constructively at bugs.mysql.com.

OTOH if you prefer Microsoft SQL Server, feel free to go back to it.
