Can't connect to mysql server on ubuntu

I'm trying to connect to my MySQL server on Ubuntu 20.04.1 with Mysql Workbench on Win10. I'm connected to the SQL server via VPN and I can access is it with other services. The port 3306 is open. When I try to connect to it with Workbench, it returns "Failed to connect to MySQL at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3306 with user xxxxx. Unable to connect to localhost".
However when I connect to MySQL on my virtual machine, that one works perfect.
Help, please. I'm getting crazy.
