Workbench local management tools gone after upgrade

Hi, I have used the built-in upgrade tool for the first time to upgrade from 8.0.24 to 8.0.25 (Community Edition). Everything seemed to work as expected, with one notable exception: In Workbench, Local instance (my default connection) tab, the Server menu is empty. Besides, all server information that was previously shown in multiple places (e.g., the Administration panel) is gone as well.

I looked this up on the Web and some people recommend creating a new connection and select Configure Server Management. Tried this and got and error at the end and a suggestion to file a bug report. The config wizard also complained about my config file (my.ini; ANSI-encoded), which it can find alright and the server does seem to successfully use that file on startup, so not sure what the problem is.

Anyway, I'm out of ideas and I do need to export a large database so any suggestions are welcome.
