That appears to be the Workbench error log.

What can you find that looks relevant in the MySQL Server error log (<machineName>.err in your datadir) ?

WB version is 8.0.28, MySQL version is 8.0.17 ... are you sure WB 8.0.28 is compatible with MySQL Server 8.0.17?
