Yes, my thoughts exactly. Using the config editor from within Workbench with anything above v8 is likely to break something, add in deprecated/not in use/invalid constants that can stop your server from restarting and break all your company sites (ask me how I know!).

Granting schema permissions is now problematic with changes in behaviour of the GRANT, I had to find out how to create users and assign permissions from the MySQL Client commandline tools today, felt like I was back in 1994 with SQL Server v2!
