Recover after a drop database

Hello,

I've made a major mistake by doing a "drop database" on a wrong MyIsam database.
As the latest backup is way too old, I am in the process of trying to recover .MYD files by using some recovery tools ("easy recovery" and "data recovery wizard").

I don't know the "internals" of the MYD format. Can I assume that the very beginning of the MYD files has not changed since the latest backup and use that to build "f file signatures" for the recovery tools ?

What do you think ?

If I succeed in getting MYD files will it be possible to reconstruct index files (MYI) afterwards ?

Truly yours,
