ibdata1 corrupt, how recover innodb file-per-table?

I have a server where the hard disk has failed, right on the ibdata1 file. Of course it turns out the backup has failed, the latest full backup is old :-|

However, I am pretty sure the database structure has changed since last backup and I can copy all the innodb file-per-table files.

What do you think of this recovery attempt;

- Clean install of MySQL
- Restore with latest backup
- Stop MySQL
- Copy back the innodb file-per-table files

Any chance this may work? Better suggestion?

(Yes, I will make sure there are proper backups next time)
