a very stupid human mistake
the ibdata1 file was replaced by an old version which the table structure is not up to date...
I am sure the idb file is ok
although any query on that table will crash the server, I can still see the 1st record of the table properly
so, thanks for the tips, I will drill into the links and see if i can recover the frm from idb.
