fail to build mysql++

Hi all,
I got the error at the first step install the mysql++ when ./configure
"...........
checking for MySQL library directory... /usr/lib
checking for MySQL include directory... /usr/include/mysql
checking for mysql_store_result in -lmysqlclient... no
configure: error: Could not find working MySQL client library!
"
I am suing:
mysql++-2.3.2
MySQL version: 5.0.26
at Suse 10.3 on x86-64
Can anyone give me a hand?
