C Connector in Workbench

I'm new to the mysql workbench program. I know C pretty well and supposedly have the C connector installed (I did a full installation of the workbench). I assumed that having this connector installed would allow me to write a program in C, perhaps for easy data entry, or for calling code in SQL to update my databases.

Please set me straight on what the C connector is used for, or if I'm correct in what it's used for please tell me how to use it either to connect to C code I've written hopefully somewhere in the workbench, or if not on some other compiler.
