postfix and dovecot API quotes username and host - unable to access database

Dear Guys!

I have just updated my ubuntu server from 804 to 1004, and I am hanving this very bad pproblem:


101109 10:10:06 5034 Connect vemailuser@localhost on
5035 Connect Access denied for user 'vemailuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

This is: php can connect, becouse it does not put single quotes around username and host, but postfix and dovecot can not! Unfortunately the mail is more important than phpmyadmin, so this is a really bad situation.

Do anyona has an idea what on earth can cause this?
