Register time of connection getting broken with database

I am connecting to the database through C.

Is there any way we can store the time at which connection is broken to the database.
For example, if the connection to MySQL server is broken due to any reason, then the time of breaking the connection should be stored in a table in MySQL.

How can this be implemented?
