SIGSEGV in vio_read_buff

I have a game server that talks to a MySQL cluster via C connector. I'm getting a segfault inside libmysqlclient pretty consistently. Happens as soon as I put a lot of load on the cluster. Looking at the backtrace, I notice that vio_read_buff has buf=0x0. Should it be? Is this a clue?

What's my next step in figuring this out?

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
