HELP please, MYSQL VERSION 5.5.19 on windows no database created

hello,

I have installed MYSQL version 5.5.19 on a windows XP laptop.
The installation looks good as I can start it. on WORKBENCH tool I can log and see the activity.
The problem I have is that no Database is created even TEST.
I have to instal a product using mysql, the installation runs but the Database is not created too.
When I set the command SHOW DATABASES;
The result is:
mysql> show databases;
+--------------------+
| Database |
+--------------------+
| information_schema |
+--------------------+
1 row in set (0.01 sec)
