Search old Mysql version

sorry but I have a problem that I can not fix ...
On an old Windows 2000 server that has "collapsed" about a month ago, had been installed Mysql 4.0.17-nt
Luckily I had a full Server backup, including system state, that I restored immediately.
The problem is that everything works except that Mysql does not start.
I was advised, by the systems analyst who performed the installation at the time, try to reinstall Mysql ...
I would have done if, as seems likely, the file. Exe or. Msi still existed (probably trashed, right after installation ...)
Does anyone know where I can manage to find this version of MySQL?
Or if there is a later version is compatible with the old installation, without compromising the operation of the database?
I tried google and could not find anything (including the official website of MySQL that has a section for downloading old versions, but starts from 5 ...
