Well, I finally gave up and installed MySQL on the C: drive. I guess nobody knows how to force the installer to use the original installation location, so I'll just follow the norm and keep it on my C: drive. It's only about 250 mb, so it's not like MSSQL 2008 R2 or anything. I wish the installer would at least warn me that any updates will default to C: so I could have saved the time spent for doing other things.
