Setting up mySQL for Production

I was shocked to find no guide on google telling me how to set up my mySQL and PHP for use on a server for production use. I have created a PHP application that uses a mySQL server with XAMPP and am now trying to get it on my company's server so it can be used by anyone in the domain. However, I can't figure out how to configure everything so that it works. Does anyone know of any detailed walkthrough on how to do this or can tell me themselves?
