to run the msi from the comand promt just type the full path of it and hit enter, example:

C:\Users\Steve\Desktop\mysql-5.5.33-win32.msi

To see the logs, type C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Installer\Logs at the Windows explorer.

Normally the folder Program Data is hidden. You can change this settings by searching for Folder Options at the Control Panel Window, View, Show hidden files, folders and drives.

Once at the above noted location, sort the files by Date of modification, and open the most recent file on the Notepad.
Look at the last lines on the file. to see if there's any hint.
