what version of the installer are you using? community or commercial?

if you are using the community 1.4.8 (that is the last bundle published in the mysql site) using the GUI, you can go to the "Catalog..." button and perform an upgrade, this will prompt you that there is a newer installer available and needs to be applied before updating the product catalog, please click the "yes" button in that prompt, using only the GUI for this, do not try to upgrade using CLI

after the upgrade, you should have the installer 1.4.11 installed, and you will only need to go again to the "catalog..." button to perform another upgrade that will now update your product catalog to the latest version

if you have 1.4.10 and experience problems at the beginning of the GUI when is detecting products, you will need to manually download the MSI update to Installer 1.4.11 Community from
http://cdn.mysql.com/Downloads/MySQLInstaller/mysql-installer-update-1.4.11.0-Community.msi

if you are using the commercial, please install the 1.4.8 bundle from MOS, or you can download the MSI update to Installer 1.4.11 from MOS
