Install new version alongside production version
I've taken over a windows webserver running MySQL 5.7.2 I wish to migrate about 30 websites to the latest version of MySQL, but I need to ensure nothing goes wrong.
I want to install a new version of MySQL and migrate each site to the new version, test it then be able to cut back if needed.
I assume I can add another version of MySQL and change it's port to say 3307 then maybe use Workbench to migrate between the two versions. All I would need to do then is point the website at the new database and see what happens.
Is this correct way forward?
Many thanks
Pete
