I installed MySQL on my personal computer a long time ago, but just got around to start using it. MSQL80 service is running. I thought I remembered the password for the root user, but apparently not. I am running on Win 8.1. The MySQL Shell starts with 8.0.23, so that must tell something about the MySQL version.
Since I apparently don't know the MySQL root password on my own machine, what do I need to do to gain control of my database system. Do I need to uninstall and start over????
