Hello David,

It is likely that the server failed to start and that Installer is not able to determine the cause of the failure, in which case the process gets stuck, we are now working on a solution to correctly identify when the server/service fails to start.

To correctly identify the exact failure please help to raise a bug at https://mybug.mysql.oraclecorp.com/orabugs/site/report.php.

In the report include the following information:

- The MySQL Installer error log generated during the failed attempt. It is either found in the UI when the error happens or as an error log file at: C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Installer for Windows\Logs.
- Version of MySQL Installer being used. This can be found in Version column at Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features. Additionally, you can obtain the version from MySQL Installer about page.
- Any error message generated in the server's error log. The error log can usually be found at "C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\Data\<machine_name>.err". If possible provide the complete file.
- The version of the manifest being used which can be found in the VERSION file at: C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Installer for Windows\Manifest. If possible, provide the contents of the whole Manifest folder.

We will attempt to reproduce the reported behavior once you have provided the request info. Thanks.
