Excel Connector Upgrade Fails

Office 2010 32 bit
MySQL 5.6.16

The upgrade of the Connector 2.7.1.0.12 to 2.7.1.1.5 fails.
It seems to do all the prechecks OK but fails without any reason given towards the end of the process. I have Excel 2010 rather than 2007 stated in error log.
