Value 'Preferred' is not of the correct type

Hi all,

I am trying to create a link from an Excel spreadsheet to a MySQL database.I am using Windows 10, running Office 365 (Excel 2016). I have installed the latest MySQL connectors (8.0.11) and MySQL Workbench.

I can access the database no problem using "MySQL Workbench 6.3 CE" and also import data from the database using the "MySQL for Excel" add-in.

However when I try to make a connection in Excel using the built in "Get Data->From Database->From MySQL Database", then enter the server name and database name, I get the following error in a pop up box:

Unable to connect
We encountered an error while trying to connect
Details: "Value 'Preferred' is not of the correct type."

I have tried un-installing and re-installing the connectors, tried installing the previous version of connectors.

Any clues how I can make the connection to the database via the "Get Data" menu?

Cheers,

Michael.
