I am also experiencing this issue. I recently updated to the most recent version of MySQL for Windows, running on Windows 8, and it works and looks great. The problem is with the Excel app, running in Excel 2013 (only). Whenever I try to launch it from a spreadsheet, it only comes up on the open 'Personal' workbook; still, it is garbled and does not form a connection. I tried unchecking and then rechecking the Com Add-in; then I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the MySQL installer, but that didn't work either. Is MySQL for Excel even optimized at all for 2013?
