Hi Craig,
Thanks for writing in our forums.

When you perform an Edit Data action on a MySQL table using MySQL for Excel, it will lock the worksheet, this is by design since there are internal mappings of Excel cells to specific records and columns. These mappings would be broken if users freely re-arrange the data in the Excel Worksheet.

So you will have to work with the limitations of a protected Worksheet if you want to achieve what you want using Edit Data. Or why don't you import the data, work with the data in Excel and use Export Data to export it to an identical table?? Or you could import the data, drop all records in the table and then run Append Data to the empty table. That way you have all the freedom of an unprotected worksheet as long as you make sure the data maps correctly to the table columns.

Cheers!
